❱ 1 night: Mercure Grosvenor Hotel or similar
Your holiday begins with a journey into the Riverland area and then on to Kingston on the Murray.
★ Visit Banrock Station where wetlands have been developed near the river which has caused the amazing river bird life to return to the area.
At the Wetlands, here we have the opportunity to stroll along the special boardwalks for a close up viewing of the birds. There will be time for morning tea before we continue to Renmark the main town In the Riverland.
After a break for lunch, cross the Murray River and later the Border into Victoria. Arrive in Mildura mid-afternoon and check into our accommodation at the Boulevard Motor Inn.
Mildura was originally established as the first irrigation colony in Victoria. Due to the hot dry climate, Mildura mainly relies on its water supply from The Murray River. The city is noted for its wide Boulevards and numbered streets which is a legacy from its founder W.B Chaffey, who was invited to Mildura by the Victorian Government to establish a network of water channels to begin fruit growing in the area.
Tonight, we enjoy a special welcome dinner in the hotel’s restaurant.
❱ 3 nights: Mildura Inlander Resort
★ After breakfast, enjoy an interesting sightseeing tour of the Victorian oasis town of Mildura.
Our touring includes a drive along the beautiful river front area and a visit to “Rio Vista” which was home to the W.B Chaffey original residents. The home is now a museum still furnished in the period of the day and includes many interesting items from the past.
Later, we tour to Woodsies Rock Shop near Irymple. The Rock and Gem shop is an Aladdin’s cave of treasures and houses one of the largest jewellery collections in Australia. Crystals and Gems from all over the world can be seen here. A huge “crazy maze” garden is covered with over 200 types of flowering creepers – it’s fun for everybody to try and find their way out!
★ This afternoon, we travel to the original Mildura Wharf to board the historic PS Melbourne for a 2 hour afternoon tea cruise on the Murray River.
A comprehensive commentary is provided throughout your cruise, providing you with an educational insight on the Murray Darling system and their environs as well as the history of the paddlesteamers.
After your cruise. we return back to our accommodation for dinner.
★ We travel along the River Road to the old soldier fruit growing town of Merbein before we continue on our journey to Wentworth in New South Wales.
A busy customs house once operated here due to the large volume of freight which was checked as it was transferred between Paddle Steamers which traded along the two rivers. This was the only jail and the main lock up facility for the area up to Broken Hill.
★ Later, travel to the Orange World Orchard with over 10,000 Citrus trees planted varieties include mandarins, oranges, grapefruit & avocados.
Orange World is a working 50-acre citrus property located just outside Mildura. Here, you will enjoy a ride aboard a unique 70-seat tractor train which will provide you with a fruit tasting and informative commentary on a wealth of citrus information with a juicy sense of humour. Your tour also includes a nursery talk where guides will explain how to successfully grow citrus trees at home, how to select good quality fruit and answer the many questions that you may have on citrus.
★ This evening, enjoy a relaxing evening dinner cruise aboard the Paddle Vessel Rothbury, cruising upstream from Mildura while enjoying a spit roast carvery dinner.
Live entertainment is provided giving patrons the opportunity to dance if they choose, or to merely sit back and enjoy the tranquil floodlit river banks created by the PV Rothbury’s powerful floodlights.
After arrival back at the Wharf, we tour back to our hotel for our overnight stay.
After breakfast our travels take us past Orange and Avocado plantations along the riverfront in New South Wales. We continue to Euston and Balranald on the Murrumbidgee River.
Kyalite was built on the Wakool River, a branch of the Edward River. Kyalite is also famous in the area for the abundance of the popular Murray Cod caught here. The old Hotel is well known in the district and has been restored to its original state over the years by its owners.
Later, our tour continues to the little settlement of Toolebuck before again crossing the Murray River to Swan Hill.
★ After dinner, visit the Swan Hill Pioneer Settlement for the spectacular ‘Heartbeat of the Murray’ sound and light show.
Recently the winner of the International Laser Design Association’s prestigious award for multimedia shows, the ‘Heartbeat of the Murray’ will definitely tantalise your senses & imagination. The show will take you silently through the settlement, stopping along the way at homesteads, blacksmiths, a church, stores, wharf, Aboriginal sites & the lower Murray Inn.
At each stop the buildings light up depicting the activities of pioneer life and the story is told of bygone days. It is a 360-degree spectacular that is unlike anything ever seen in Australia, using light, water, laser, sound & special effects.
What a way to end a great day!
❱ 2 nights: Jane Eliza Motor Inn
★ Enjoy an interest packed tour of present day Swan Hill before visiting the depiction of an early Swan Hill at the Pioneer Settlement.
The Settlement is a fully recreated township representing life of our Pioneers in the 1800s. The town is complete with a Blacksmith, homesteads, Heritage Buildings, machinery and all sorts of memorabilia. The amazing Kaiser Stereoscopic Theatre is the only working one of its kind left in the world. Enjoy a ride on a horse drawn vehicle or indulge in the sweets from the Old Time Lolly Shop while you stroll around.
★ Later, we tour to the township of Sea Lake & Lake Tyrell. At the amazing salt lake, the most incredible reflections can be seen!
Lake Tyrell & its surrounding salt lakes were formed as a result of the innundation of the Murray-Darling Basin through sea level rise and its subsequent retreat. Hundreds of international tourists fly directly to Sea Lake to take photographs of the most amazing sights & reflections imaginable!
After our visit to the lake, we return back to Swan Hill for a special farewell dinner at the hotel’s restaurant.

The town is the gateway to 2 vast national parks that are filled with spectacular birdlife – the Murray-Sunset & Wyperfield National Parks.
